Hi, my name is Grant Shankster, thanks for taking the time to look through my resumè site and getting to know me better.
I started my career in a traditional marketing role and it wasn’t long before my affiliation with digital marketing became apparent. Since my studies in communication, I’ve adapted my skill set and continued to learn and develop until my recent employment as a creative technologist and then starting my freelance journey.
By drawing on the skills and expertise taught to me at university and combining them with my work experiences and passion for digital marketing – I believe I can help create, publish and target your business to increase awareness and help usher consumers along the purchase path to become advocates of your brand.

2014-15 Sunshine Coast Destination - Technologist
The role of Digital Technologist at Sunshine Coast Destination Limited (SCDL) was an amazing opportunity for my career. It was a position that demanded the utmost care on deliverables alongside a targeted approach. Attention to detail, application of a broad skill set, constant monitoring and tweaking of collateral plus reporting were the fundamentals of this career-defining role.
My key responsibilities included all social media management and content, email marketing, strategy development, online bookings, reporting and communicating to key stakeholders, website content management across the company’s three main websites (via Sitecore CMS platform), online creative design, provision of digital opportunities for membership, content development and deployment during campaign periods, building and provision of project management solution, as well as SEO, SEM and PPC advertising. The role saw me responsible for all aspects of the social and digital technologies for SCDL marketing.
2009-14 World Surfaris - Marketing Co-ordinator
World Surfaris was an amazing opportunity that taught me some of the myriad intricacies of the marketing profession. My time at World Surfaris saw me developing entire campaigns and also implementing individual strategies to achieve objectives. I learned the basics of web development and Creative Cloud suite, the role of social media in supplementing marketing, SEO improvements and loads more. At World Surfaris I was able to adapt my skills and apply new techniques to effectively roll out campaigns regardless of budget and platform constraints. Working at World Surfaris meant that I could combine two great passions: surfing and digital marketing. I have made lasting friendships with my fellow co-workers and employers, but after five years felt ready to make a change.
2008-09 Australia Zoo | The Encouragement Foundation - Insternship
Working alongside the Australia Zoo PR, Communications and marketing teams taught me the importance of working to deadlines and carrying out individual workloads as a part of team collaboration. The Australia Zoo internship furthered my skills in this industry and reinforced what I had learnt at University.
The encouragement foundation is philanthropic endeavour established by John Shadforth. My time at the Encouragement Foundation included the formulation of a strategic campaign plans to increase awareness of the organisation. Working as part of PR team we were able to successfully launch a media campaign that increased the awareness of the foundation and exceeded all campaign objectives. The Encouragement Foundation was a great start for my marketing and communications career.
